Clinical Dermatology through Case Studies

ebook

This book contains 25 detailed Case Studies covering a wide spectrum of disorders relating to Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology, including many hospitalized cases. Each Case Study gives the entire sequence from the first visit till the diagnosis, and continues with the detailed management till the patient is last seen several days, weeks, months or a few years later. The best possible treatments were given at the time the patients were seen, in the setting of an Indian Private Medical College (CMC, Ludhiana), and according to the financial position of the patient.

The diagnosis is held in suspense, for the joint participation of the reader, who should preferably avoid looking up the index at the beginning, as it would reveal the diagnosis. Each Case Study is followed by a discussion on relevant aspects of the case, along with a brief write-up mentioning the clinical features and the latest methods of treatment. There are numerous clinico-pathological correlations and sequential photographs (dynamic sequences).

The Foreword has been written by the author's esteemed Teacher and mentor, Dr. J.S. Pasricha, who is well known as one of the foremost dermatologists and research workers.

This book is primarily intended for dermatology and pathology postgraduate students, junior dermatologists, private practitioners, and doctors working with limited resources in smaller hospitals, who may need to diagnose and treat a dermatology case. Medical students may also find this book useful, as there are many clinical photographs and histopathologies, and many of the important dermatoses have been summarized under the Brief Notes.
