Satisfying to hear, perhaps even more than to see, is this short play of good-bye between mother and daughter. Jessie, the daughter, is loveable, and her desire to end her life is understandable as Sharon Gless portrays her. She gives her many facets. As the mother, Katherine Helmond expands the role to its fullest potential but still uses restraint. Both actors offer something hopeful in hopelessness. This piece is a great reminder of the old radio days when you got to set the scene yourself and locked it in. You can concentrate on the subject because nothing can attract your eye away from what you're hearing. J.P. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
